Letter from Heidi Holliday, current Executive Director:

Dear friends,
I started as Executive Director of Consensus KC three years ago, building off the strong foundation that had been laid by Jen Wilding. I’ve enjoyed this work tremendously – seeking out new projects and opportunities, working with a great board and volunteers, and developing new partnerships. I’m proud of the work we’ve accomplished. Despite the monkey wrench of COVID, we’ve provided meaningful opportunities for people to engage across differences in a variety of settings, we’ve explored a great diversity of topic areas, we’ve experimented, and we’ve had fun. We’ve continued to make a name for ourselves in community engagement, virtual facilitation, and strategic planning. From Weaving Community to our work on affordable housing to promoting civility in the legislature, I have valued and learned from every experience. It has been gratifying and humbling to be a part of these efforts, and through them, I’ve come to believe that the last remaining place for many of us to encounter people who believe differently is the workplace.
And now it’s time to test this theory of change.
I’m thrilled to announce that I’m joining Unity Lab as the COO and co-founder. Unity Lab is a CaaS (Culture-as-a-Service) platform that helps employees activate their purpose on the job, develop new skills and build authentic, diverse relationships, no matter where they work. I’m joining Unity Lab because I believe that if we’re going to shift the culture to be one of more understanding, the workplace is a perfect place to try that out.
